Review of Solidworks Solid Feature-1

Features Tool Bar

Extruded Base

1. First Feature in the Part, the foundation.
2. Select the Sketch Plane.
3. Sketch the profile.
4. Add dimensions and relations.
5. With sketch active, click Extrude Boss/Base

from the Features Toolbar.
6. Select End Condition options for Depth.

Extruded Boss

1. Adds Material.
2. Select the Sketch Plane.
3. Sketch the profile.
4. Add dimensions and relations.
5. With sketch active, select Extrude Boss/Base from the Features Toolbar.
6. Select End Condition options for Depth.

Extruded Cut

1. Removes Material.
2. Select the Sketch Plane.
3. Sketch the profile.
4. Add dimensions and relations.
5. With sketch active, select Extrude Cut from the Features Toolbar.
6. Select End Condition options for Depth.

Hole Feature (HoleWizard)

1. Intelligent Cut.
2. Corresponds to a machining process:
– Counterbore
– Countersink
– Tap
– Drill
– Thread
3. Select a Sketch Plane.
4. Select the Hole Wizard.
5. Select the Hole type options.
6. Add dimensions or relations.

Fillet Feature

1. Rounds sharp edges.
2. Adds or removes material.
3. Select the Fillet feature.
4. Select Edges or Faces. Enter a fillet radius value.

Chamfer Feature

1. Bevels an edge.
2. Adds or removes material.
3. Select the Chamfer feature.
4. Select Edges or Faces.
5. Enter distance / angle.
Shell Feature


1. Removes material at a specified wall thickness.
2. Select the faces.
3. Select the Shell feature.
4. Enter a Thickness.
Rib Feature

1. Adds thin-wall support to a solid body.
2. Select a Sketch plane.
3. Sketch a profile.
4. Select the Rib feature.
5. Select Thickness and Direction.
