Solidworks Engineering Stimulus Package

Can you believe it? SolidWorks has just launched the Engineering Stimulus Package offering a free 90 day copy of SolidWorks only to US and Canadian residents.

The free copy of SolidWorks is basically the same thing as the Student Design Kit.

So, like the Student Design Kit, you will have a watermark on all of the files you create.

To me that doesn’t sound like too much of a restriction for getting $3,000 worth of software for free. What do you think?

Presentation studio in solidworks 2009

How to create a presentation in pdf after modelling is done?

We've created the perfect model... Now present it to the world! Generate dynamic 3D PDFs with just a couple of clicks using Presentation Studio.

PDF is the standard method for sharing documents. Add in 3D capabilities, and now you've got documents really worth sharing.

With Presentation Studio you can create a Design Brief, Price Sheet, Technical Summary, Feature Review, or Product Specification in minutes. But unlike ordinarly PDFs, an embedded 3D model conveys your design in a way 2D just can't. The PDF can then be read on any computer with Adobe Acrobat 8 or above.

After downloading and installing the add-in, it will need to be activated in SolidWorks. Select the "Add-ins..." entry under the Tools menu, bringing up the Add-in Manager. Find the Presentation Studio entry and make sure both of its checkboxes are checked.

Now that add-in is loaded, there will be a new Presentation tab containing the Layout command. This will launch the Presentation Studio Layout Property Manager.

Note: Now works with 64bit SolidWorks 2009. It requires SolidWorks 2009 SP03 or higher.
